On December 22, 2021 I signed up for American Cars subscription from De Agostini. The models look great so it was easier for me to take a plunge into yet another great collection of 1:43 scale models.
Now, let’s talk about money for a minute. First two models are very cheap, priced at £2.99 and £6.50 but the subsequent releases will be more expensive, priced at £12.99 each. There will be a lot of “gifts” that are “free” of course. If you weren’t born yesterday or you didn’t live under the rock, you surely know that nothing in this world is for free.
The nature of subscriptions is that, the first models are quite cheap, but the price of the next ones is much higher. In case of the American Car collection from De Agostini, this won’t be any different. The manufacturer’s website shows that we will get four models a month from the third shipment inclusive. The price per model is set to £ 12.99 ($ 17.33 at the time of writing this article). In total, we’ll pay £ 51.96 ($ 69.34) for each shipment.
An additional cost is a postage of £ 1 for each model from shipment number 4 onwards, therefore to the amount of £ 51.96 ($ 69.34) for the four models, we have to add £ 4 per shipment, which will give us a total of £ 55.96 ($ 74.68). The answer to the question whether it is worth it or not, I am leaving to you.
Once you have decided to swallow the bitter cost pill and you are ready to subscribe to the amazing collection of American Cars great set of models is ahead of you. Do not forget that the additional models will be released with regular ones as below:
with #3 delivery – Cadillac Eldorado convertible (1976) – looks pretty damn good
with #8 delivery – Shelby Cobra 427 S/C (1965)
with #11 delivery – Ford Mustang GT (1965)
with #15 delivery – Stutz Blackhawk (1971)
If you have subscribed before 31 December 2021 (just like I did), you will get two bonus models/gifts 1:24 scale as below:
with #9 delivery we’ll get the Chevrolet Corvette C3 (1968)
and finally with #14 delivery we’ll get the Ford Mustang convertible (1964) – I am really looking forward to get this badass model.
Please find below the upcoming issues of the magazine with the models. The table is updated frequently according to the publisher’s updates.
Notes
* Model does not differ much from earlier released versions in the DeA American Cars collection
** Model comes from the Spanish edition of De Agostini American Cars as UK publisher first changed the order of issues and then ended the collection at number 80
